Ah, what to say about this place.... To sum it up, this place is the House of The Rising Sun of Gatineau... Having grown up in the neighbourhood (and moved away several years ago) the café is a staple to the locals, and even though it's not the ritz, it's certainly a place that many fathers in the neighbourhood call their second home (akin to Moe's s Tavern in the Simpsons). It's where many kids have ended up with their old man on their 18(ish)th birthday as almost a kind of rite of passage. It's also not the prettiest bar, and sometimes it can get a little rough and tumble, often packed with all sorts of characters. It's also where other fellow members of the community will give you the scoop on what's going on around you; where people will greet you like you're Norm from Cheers and where you're quite likely to get a drink on the house as someone orders it for the bar just because they're having a good time with friends. Café Renaissance is a pillar of the community. If you grew up in this neighbourhood, you'd be sad (in a melancholy sort of way) if it's doors ever closed.
